CRAWLEY TOWN HOST NEW YEAR SPECTACULAR
Broadfield Stadium is the place to be this New Year's Eve as Crawley Town Football Club gives you the chance to see in 2006 with a party on the pitch.

Crawley Borough Council is pleased to be associated with the town's biggest and best New Year's party. Marquees will be erected at each end of the pitch, while revellers can listen to a live band and be entertained by Mercury FM DJs, fire eaters and stilt walkers.

The climax of the event will be a ten-minute firework display at midnight, while partygoers can watch the New Year rung in by Big Ben on a large-screen TV.

Entry is £5 per person with a percentage going to the Operation Santa charity appeal.

Tickets (over-18s only) will be available on the night at the turnstiles.

Doors open at 7pm and two bars will be open until late. The event closes at 1am.

Crawley Town general manager Paul Hobbs said: “Crawley Town are delighted to host what will surely be the biggest, most spectacular event of its kind in Crawley's history. This event represents our commitment to bring the club and its excellent facilities closer to the community as a whole and provide donations for a charity that is very close to our hearts – Operation Santa.”

The pitch will be protected by rola-trac flooring, which is used by Premiership and Championship clubs to cover their playing surfaces for events. This is translucent and perforated, allowing light and air to reach the grass and therefore avoid damage to the pitch.

No glass will be allowed in the stadium and the club will enforce this strictly for the protection of players and officials.

WORCESTER NEXT TROPHY TEST FOR RED DEVILS
Crawley are set to renew rivalry with their old Southern League colleagues Worcester City in the last 32 of the FA Trophy. The second round draw, made this morning, handed Crawley a home tie against the Conference North side on Saturday 14 January.

The clubs are well known to each other, having both played for many seasons in the Southern League. Crawley completed the double over Worcester in their championship year of 2003-04, winning 4-0 at Broadfield Stadium and securing a vital 1-0 win at St Georges Lane in the return.

Worcester, managed by Andy Preece, are 19 th in the Conference North, just three places and three points off the bottom, but they have up to six games in hand on their rivals after a successful FA Cup run which saw them host League One Huddersfield in the second round. City knocked out Conference leaders Accrington Stanley after a replay in the fourth qualifying round.

Crawley set up the tie with an excellent away victory at Stevenage in the first round on Saturday.

John Hollins' side took control from the start and first-half goals by Simon Wormull and Steve Burton sent the Red Devils into round two.

Result: Saturday 17 December (FA Trophy First Round)
Stevenage Borough 0
Crawley Town 2 (Wormull 33, Burton 45)
Att: 951
Crawley Town: Smith, Judge (Sub: Opinel), Giles, Simpemba, Jenkins, Scully, Wormull (Sub: Grant), Armstrong (Sub: Blackburn), Brown, Whitman, Burton.
Subs not used: Ward, Mendy.
