RED DEVILS TURN ATTENTION TO CUP
Crawley Town face two cup games this week after having their six-game unbeaten run ended by York City in the Conference at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday), the Red Devils continue their defence of the Sussex Senior Cup with a home quarter-final against Conference South side Bognor Regis Town.

The Rocks are one of the stronger opponents left in the competition, with Brighton and Hove Albion having made an early exit and Crawley themselves having knocked out Eastbourne Borough in the previous round, after opening their defence with a 7-0 home win over Whitehawk.

Boss John Hollins is expecting a sterner test against Bognor, who won 3-0 at Yeading in the league on Saturday.

The Rocks have a dangerous front two, with former Weymouth and Portsmouth striker Luke Nightingale a prolific scorer and ex-Brighton youngster Ben Watson, who played for Crawley reserves last season and trialled with the Red Devils this pre-season, having taken his seasonal tally into double figures. Another familiar faced to Crawley fans is midfielder Scott Kirkwood, who followed a promising youth and reserve career at the Broadfield Stadium with a handful of first-team appearances before joining Bognor last season.

On Saturday, Crawley welcome their former Southern League sparring partners Worcester City back to the Stadium in the FA Trophy third round.

Worcester are struggling in Conference North, where they picked up their fourth win with a 2-0 home success against Kettering on Saturday, but have done well in cup competitions, notably when knocking Conference leaders Accrington Stanley out of the FA Cup before hosting League One Huddersfield in the second round proper.

They have beaten Kendal Town and Hayes, both by 1-0 at home, to earn the tie at Crawley, who entered the competition in the previous round and scored an impressive 2-0 success at fellow Conference side Stevenage with goals by Simon Wormull and Steve Burton.

Hollins has said he expects to field a strong team featuring many if not all of the players who faced York, against Bognor Regis and Worcester.

“We've got two cup games coming up this week and we might put the people who played today back out on Tuesday to get them in the habit of winning games,” said Hollins.

HOLLINS WINS MANAGER OF THE MONTH
Crawley Town manager John Hollins has been named the joint Conference manager of the month award for December. Crawley were unbeaten throughout the month, beating Tamworth and Stevenage (FA Trophy) and gaining solid away draws at Halifax and Woking. The Crawley boss shared the award along with Accrington Stanley's John Coleman.
