CLUB ENTERS ADMINISTRATION
An official statement from the football club has confirmed the club went in to administration today. The statement read:

"Crawley Town Football Club entered into administration as of Monday 5th June 2006. This has been the result of the Club's ongoing financial battle throughout the season, which extends further beyond the time when the Club was bought last year.

"The escalating expenditure of the Club is not a fresh issue as it has been a fundamental concern Crawley Town faced due to the rise in running costs when it attained Conference League status. This is one of the reasons that it was previously put up for sale, a year before Mr Majeed procured the Club. Considering the lack of finances available it would not have sustained its current league position.

"As a direct consequence of entering administration, the Club will start the season with a deduction of 10 points. However, the Management are confident that the season will be a success with the potential to still meet the play offs with a focused team. John Hollins and Alan Lewer remain committed to the Club and bringing it through this turbulent transition.

"Despite recent speculation, the Club is not up for sale by the administrators and no one has formally approached the Chairman with a sensible intention to procure Crawley Town."
