DEVILS TRUST STEERING GROUP STATEMENT
Since it was announced that Crawley Town FC is heading towards administration the Devils Trust steering group have been inundated with enquiries about how we might react to this situation.

At the moment, we are still establishing the trust itself, although we have taken steps to accelerate this process, using the model rules provided by Supporters Direct, in order to be in a position to take whatever action may be required.

The group are continuing to explore all avenues to establish how best we can help to secure the future of Crawley Town Football Club.

We have made contact with a number of potential investors and have discovered that there are many people willing to be involved in sponsorship, investment and even ownership of our club.

For reasons of business confidentiality we cannot go into detail at this stage but one potential investor who is happy to publicly declare his interest in saving the Red Devils is Mr John Goodwin, a former chairman of Romford FC and more recently Bishop's Stortford FC. He is a respected football man with a proven track record.

Trust steering group members have also been in contact with many loyal supporters of the club and other interested parties about possible investment in the club.

Unfortunately, no progress can be made until the current owners agree to engage in negotiations or the club is officially in administration - when potential investors can register an interest with the administrator.

Mr Goodwin first enquired about purchasing the club when the pay cuts were announced in the spring, but was unable to speak directly with chairman Azwar Majeed.

The work of the steering group continues until Thursday when their next meeting will see a handover to the working parties who will take the Devils Trust forward to a formal launch.
