Chatham then scored their first before Buchan added his second to give the Reds a 4-1 lead at the interval.
Chatham closed the gap to 2 shortly after the restart before Josh Lyons restored the three goal advantage on 66 minutes. With Chatham reduced to 10 men with 11 minutes remaining it was Josh Lyons who scored the 6th and final goal on 90 minutes.

REDS PROGRESS IN FA CUP
Nigel Brake grabbed a second half brace as the Reds ran out 4-0 winners over Ryman League side Harlow Town on Saturday in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. Justin Gregory scored Crawleys first on 8 minutes. Ben Judge then made it 2-0 on 36 minutes when he spotted the Harlow keeper off his line and saw his speculative effort from just inside the half way line tipped on to the crossbar on it's way to the back of the net. The game was safe after Brake scored his first on 57 minutes when he finished off a fine individual move. The scoring was concluded 5 minutes later when Brake fired home from 25 yards.

The Reserve sides Suburban League Premier Division home fixture against Northwood was postponed. The Suburban League officially called the match off on Thursday due to turmoil at Northwood. YOUTH TEAM RESULT
The Youth team ran out 5-2 winners over South Park Youth on Monday night at the Broadfield Stadium, with Georgie Smith and Josh Lyons both scoring twice. RESERVES LOSE CUP TIE
The Reserve side lost 3-0 at Carshalton Athletic in the 1st Round of the Suburban League Challenge Cup on Saturday. They return to league action on Wednesday when they play host to the Met Police in the Suburban League Premier Division.
REDS HOLD NUNEATON
Crawley came back from 2 goals behind on Saturday to draw with league leaders Nuneaton. The visitors went a goal ahead through Gez Murphy on 16 minutes. The Reds defence stopped waiting for the referee to blow his whistle after Murphy controlled the ball with his arm prior to firing past Andy Little. It was 2-0 soon after when Little could only palm Brian Quailey's effort in to the path of Mark Clifford, with Clifford slotting the ball home.
Crawley managed to grab 1 back before the interval though, as a Mo Harkin cross found Kevin Hemsley at the far post on 39 minutes, allowing him to score his third goal of the season. The scores were level soon after the restart as Jay Richardson forced the ball over the line after Dan Marney had hit the Nuneaton post.
Although the visitors had started the stronger in the first half, the tables were turned once Crawley had scored their equaliser and if a third goal was to come it would have been more likely for the Reds. It was not to be however and the draw extends the Reds unbeaten run in the league to 10 games.
With Harlow up next in the FA Cup Crawley it's a fortnight before they return to league action, when they visit Hednesford Town

RESSIES DRAW AT DULWICH
The Reserve side drew 0-0 at Dulwich Hamlet on Tuesday (16th Sept) in the Suburban League. The result means that Crawley remain third in the Premier Division, 4 points behind leaders Hayes who have played the same number of games.
GOALLESS DRAW FOR REDS
After 3 successive wins Crawley extended their unbeaten run to 9 games following a goalless draw at home to Chelmsford on Tuesday night. The Reds will rue the few chances they made to close the gap on league leaders Nuneaton, who themselves drew on Tuesday. Robert Smith forced a save out of Chelmsford keeper on 70 minutes with a great volley from 30 yards. Fabian Forde then hit the crossbar twice from the resulting corner, the first from a header, the second from the rebound. With Dan Marney and Nigel Brake also missing chances to secure the three points it'll be Chelmsford who went home happiest at the end. With Nuneaton up next the Reds fans will be hoping that manager Francis Vines moves away from the 3-5-2 formation of the last couple of games and reverts back to the 4-4-2 formation that has proved more successful.

REDS WIN ON TRAVELS
Crawley registered their first away win of the season on Saturday, as they came back from behind to beat a Newport County side who had two players sent off. County took the lead just before the interval when Mark Dickerson headed home from a corner. On 66 minutes County were reduced to 10 men when Gareth Philips was given his second yellow card of the game. A couple of minutes later the scores were level midway through the second half when Mo Harkin converted a penalty given for a foul on him by Gary Lloyd. Crawley's winner came on 74 minutes when Harkin released Daniel Marney, who made no mistake in finding the net. County were then reduced to 9 men in the closing stages when Matt Rose also picked up his second yellow card of the match.
JOFF SCORES FOR RESERVES
Reds forward Joff Vansittart returned to action on Saturday, when he came on as a second half substitute in the Reserves sides 7-0 mauling of Thame United in the Suburban League. 10 MEN REDS SEE OFF CAMBRIDGE
A 10 man Crawley side held on for victory 2-0 against Cambridge City on Tuesday night. Following a bright start which included Dan Marney scoring the opening goal in only the third minute Reds fans were thinking that they may be in for a repeat performance of the recent Worcester victory. It took until the 29th minute though before the second goal came when Mo Harkin converted a penalty following a handball by a Cambridge player.
Any thoughts of the scoreline being increased in the second half were soon dashed by the referee when he gave Robert Smith his second yellow card of the game on 55 minutes. Crawley played the remainder of the game with a solitary striker, with Dan Marney retreating into midfield, with the Reds producing a solid team performance to keep Cambridge at bay.

FORDE SCORES IN OLYMPIC QUALIFIER
Reds forward Fabian Forde scored for the Barbados Under-23 side on Sunday in their Olympic Qualifying match against Guyana. Unfortunately though Forde's goal made little impact on the scoreline as Guyana ran out 4-1 winners. The match was the 1st leg of the 1st Round of the CONCACAF Qualifying stages so Barbados have it all to do in the return leg in Barbados on 12th October.
LATE PENALTY COSTS REDS
A penalty in injury time, conceded by Kevin Hemlsey, means Crawley are still waiting for their first away win of the season. When Nigel Brake scored the Crawley's opener after 47 minutes it was the third away match the Reds had taken the lead, however they failed to hold on for all three points. Mo Harkin added a second from the penalty spot on 64 minutes to give the Reds a two goal lead, before they conceded two penalties themselves. New signing Karl Ready was the culprit for the first, adjudged to have elbowed Tiverton skipper Jason Rees. Steve Winter converted the spot kick. It was Winter again who scored the home sides second spot kick, given after Hemsley too was adjudged to have used his elbow on Steve Ovens.

HOLMES OUT, READY IN
Reds utility man Stewart Holmes has left the Reds to join DML rivals Eastbourne Borough. Holmes had yet to start a league game this season and leaves the club after Borough made a 7 day approach following the 1-1 draw between the two sides on Tuesday. It was decided that in the best interests of the player that he be released earlier than required.
As Holmes departs Crawley have announced the signing of central defender Karl Ready. Ready joins from Ryman Premier side Aylesbury, whom he joined in the close season from Aldershot Town. Ready started his career at QPR where he stayed for 10 years before moving north of the border to Motherwell. After being made redundant from Motherwell following financial difficulties he joined Aldershot, where he played last season.
The Reserve side snatched a late winner against Carshalton Athletic in the Surbuban League on Wednesday. Matt Seldon scored the Reds' goal, which sees them move up to 4th in the Premier Division after 5 games, just two points

REDS DRAW AT EASTBOURNE
Crawley travelled to Eastbourne on Tuesday looking to capitalise on the win against Worcester City, however they will be grateful they got a point after Danny Simmonds headed wide deep into stoppage time. It could have been so different though as Crawley had dominated the match for long spells. With Marc Pullan missing through injury Francis Vines recalled Ellis Hooper into the starting line-up and it was one of his defensive partners who grabbed Crawley's goal on 19 minutes, when Craig Dean's cross was finished off nicely by Kevin Hemlsey.
As the game progressed Eastbourne found their feet and got their equaliser with 8 minutes remaining through Simmonds. With Eastbourne scoring 3 late goals against Dover only last week Crawley should know they'd finish with a flurry and should be glad that Simmonds' header went wide in injury time thus giving them 1 point, the least they deserved.
SHOTS NEXT IN YOUTH CUP

RESERVES DRAW AT AYLESBURY
The Reserve side drew 0-0 at Aylesbury in the Suburban League on Saturday. Following this draw the Reserve side are now placed 8th in the Premier Division. Their next match is on Wednesday when they play host to Carshalton Athletic at the Broadfield Stadium.
REDS TURN ON THE STYLE
Francis Vines will be glad he returned early from his holiday early to see this display as Crawley turned on the style on Saturday, beating early league leaders Worcester City 4-0 at the Broadfield Stadium. Reds fans may have been wondering whether early missed opportunites would cost them dear as they failed to convert chance after chance. It was not until the 45th minute before the first goal came, when Danny Marney headed home a delightful cross from Nigel Brake. With injury time being played Ben Judge released Carl Wilson-Denis through, with just Danny McDonnell in the visitors goal to beat. Wilson-Denis neatly rounded the keeper before slotting home to give Crawley a deserved 2-0 lead at the interval.
Wilson-Denis made it 3-0 soon after the re-start when he found himself clear whilst Worcester appealed against an offside, stationary, Marney. With the play waved on by the referee Wilson-Denis beat McDonnell for his second of the game. It was Wilson-Denis' day, so it was no surprise when Marney was pulled back in the visitors box and the referee awarded a penalty that he would step up to take it. His neatly placed spot kick, which was out of McDonnell's reach, gave the on loan star his hat-trick.
