I must confess to being very troubled by our current league position and prospects for survival; in fact I am envious of those that seem to genuinely and confidently proclaim that we will be safe. At this juncture it certainly isn't the case and I struggle to see where any more points will come from; nervously watching other teams' scores as the goals go in
What troubles me more is that the Club, and especially the players, are talking about next season as if our safety is assured already. While there are teams in a worse predicament than us, if the players believe they have crossed the line to safety it may well not pan out that way
We do seem to have developed a 'grown-up' academy where results seem to be secondary to performance and development. The bad news is the letter are as elusive as the results. The players and manager bang on as if we are some super footballing side that just don't get the rub of the green very often, but console themselves that we're OK because we try and play the right way
The truth is we don't really play any way, apart from badly,as that's all we can do.
Obviously I am desperate for us to survive in the Football League and should that be the case (please God, as we won't bounce back in a hurry) this bubble that has enveloped the Broadfield Stadium and tricked its occupants into believing that they're good football's guardians in the lower reaches of the game has to burst. Let's adapt to fight for everything and play the game according to the players and resources we have, and, as importantly send the fans home proud, if disappointed
I wish I had the faith of the many regarding our continued League status, but should we survive there has to be a change in attitude. I am sick of hearing 'poor us' and 'onto the next game' |

Have a look at the form table. Four of the five below us have done worse than us lately.
Then go and have a look at who they have to play.

So we are leaving our destiny in the hands of others then, because we seem incapable of grasping it with our own
Safety is not assured but I hope it will soon be, thanks, no doubt, to others
My concerns extend beyond pure safety as when/if it comes there is plenty that needs to change ahead of next season or it will be Groundhog Season |

I still believe it's likely that we could lose every remaining game and still stay up - but I wouldn't stake my house (err flat) on it.
So, leaving goal difference aside, will all of Yeovil, Cheltenham, Hartlepool and Newport get as many as 49 points.
Yeovil may well manage it as they are three points shy, their next game is at home to Crewe and they may be good for a point from two of their other games.
Cheltenham have Grimsby (h), Blackpool (a) and Portsmouth (a). They also have Hartlepool at home so one or both have to drop points there. I reckon that Cheltenham are highly unlikely to gain the 5 points which would be needed to displace us. 4 at most from Grimsby (1 point) and maybe beating Hartlepool.
Hartlepool would need 6 points to displace us. They play Barnet and Orient, so yes, they could gain them from those games even if they lose to Cheltenham.
Newport would need 7. Plymouth (a), Accrington (h), Carlisle (a) and Notts County (h). They have hit some form lately so they may squeeze 7 points from them, but it's a big ask.
We have Accrington (a), Carlisle (h), Cambridge (a) and Mansfield (h). Probably a couple of points from those.
It may be that even if we have four losses, two of the three could overhaul us, but I can't see all three managing it - especially as two of them must play each other. |

Of the teams below us, maybe, but three others are worse than us. And of course we've only got four to play not 10.
Look at the form for the last 4 and 6 games. That gives current form.
Were the teams below us to repeat their form from their last four games, and we happened to lose all four of ours, we'd still be safe. |

If we didn't get another point (which I doubt) I still don't think we will go down.
It wouldn't surprise me if we won at Accy on Monday. |

That would have been funnier at 6am tomorrow or 6 am on day after our first game next season. |
