Website gives todays team as

Morris, Young, Connolly, McNerney, Blackman, Smith, Djalo, Bawling, Clifford, Boldewijn & Collins

Subs, Mersin, Arthur, Davey, Tajbakhsh, Yussuf & Pappoe

That's Beeney, Harrold, Payne, Roberts, Yorwerth, Garnett, Banton & Cox missing from parade, I reckon some of them should be on half pay after all this sick leave ......... Wink

Biggest home crowd of the season to witness what was unfortuantely also the flattest of it.

We were comfortably the second best side and easily could have been beaten by a few without some heroic goal line clearances, great keeping and a clear penalty of theirs not given.

Still, Accrington are a decent side who thumped us in the same fixture last year and a point won't do too badly.

We started brightly and for 10 minutes it was end to end .That for us though was as good as it got. Accrington started to take charge and we couldn't live with their players pressing us evey time we had possession. We were forced into to many mistakes and just couldn't get going. When we did break forward Accrington had two lines of four waiting for us and we couldnt work out how to get through it.
We looked sluggish at the back but the effort and commitment shown at vital times compensated for that.I think Mark Connolly was off form but to be fair to him I'm sure he wasn't a 100% fit to start with.He reallly struggled in the second half and was eventually replaced.
This was a good point for us because we were battered today and they must be wondering how they haven't gone back up North with all the points.

Good point - Stanley are a half-decent team. We made a couple of decent chances - fantastic movement for the first-time shot early on - but they made plenty more.

I thought it was a reasonably enjoyable match , both sides made a game of it & tried to play positively, but it was always that bit of quality missing when it counted which was a bit frustrating.

However, I really have to praise the character of our players... there were a few last-ditch heroics when it looked all over and that deserves credit.

notworthy

Push on chaps and keep that spirit going...!

Quite an open game but I can only recall one effort on target, which was the Collins half chance well saved. Morris didn't have much to do either although we had Jimmy Smith to thank for a header off the line and then an almighty scramble when the ball pinballed around our box.

We do seem to be down to the bare bones of the squad, little on the bench today. In fact having laughed at the decision to have Watt and Henderson training they would surely have got in the squad today.

Still its a point against a team in the play offs when we could have ended up with nothing.

Stand out players for me were Smith (deservedly MoM) and Collins who worked his nuts off with no service at all. Otherwise few players really enhanced their standings - Blackman looked shaky at LB and Bobson didn't really grasp his chance.

I've analysed the data, graphed the information, put it through the statistics cruncher and come to the conclusion 'we was lucky!'.

Still, we fought hard and the spirit of the side was there to see.

Sometimes all the ideas of what we should have done or who we should have replaced come up against the fact that, today, they were the better team.

Def second best if Accrington had a finisher they would have had a bag full. We were well beaten in midfield and in second half created nothing.

i think thats a bit harsh on Reds. Stanley agreed poor finishers but really we remained in this game and couldve won it with bit more up front. Collins doesnt fit in and shouldve been sub'd for throwing his toys out the pram when a pass was laser spot on. Talking of passes too many asyray and how many offsides really we let ourselves down there. We are still on course to go up as champions posed well with less than two months played. No one stood out so i wont argue with Smith MOM in the lucky dip as his goaline clearance was a saviour. Wouldve like see more energy in final 20mins when.game was there for taking. Cant believe vrowd was anywhere near 2000 looked like one lowest this season.

That's a point gained today. If I were an Accrington supporter, I would be thinking that the away side should have won that comfortably. Similar to how we dominated at Hartlepool. Swings and roundabouts I guess.

We were lucky to get Nil.

Stanley's finishing was atrocious , they should have had 3 or 4 goals.

Still, we got a point and that's more than we would have got last season.

Today's performance shows we have spirit and endeavour, which is good to see.

Well done lads, we did well against a good team.

salut

PS : Morris in goal was excellent !

Indeed. Worth remembering that under John Gregory this would probably have turned into a lame defeat followed by the usual guff about how we trained like internationals.

We do seem quite solid at the back - the downside is there are only 6 teams that have scored less than us.
