More pertinently, I'd like him to express a desire to return to us... and pick up where he left off, banging the goals in..!

Agreed.

He was the reason we stayed in the league.

Yes, definitely. I thought he worked well with Matt Harrold and as Phil says, his goals helped us win the games which kept us out of trouble.

Didn't seem to do much at Wimbledon but once he got up and running here he was very good. I'd be more than happy to see him back.

would fit in nicely with our new style of play, he always seemed better when we were going more attack minded but if our backs are against the wall he will always make himself a chance

I'd love to see him sign - preferably on a 3 year contract although they seem to be non existent at Crawley nowadays. He clicked when he was here last season, and I confess to being puzzled as to why he failed at Wimbledon. However, though Oldham might let him go, since he didn't do much both pre and during Sheridan, I agree with Graeme - he'll probably want to see whether he's in the new Manager's plans.

Definitely like to see him sign a contract rather than join on loan again, nothing worse than a loan striker scoring goals and then disappearing off leaving a massive gap in the side, like he did last season

Very odd.

He signed a new contract this summer...or so I can recall reading on the Beeb website.

Very odd that he signed and very odd that he now seems available.

I don't recall that.........and I'm an Oldham supporter. My impression is that he's treading water for his final year. But then again, Sheridan has gone. Who knows how the new manager will see it?

He signed a two year deal with Oldham 12 months ago. Oldham are on at least their third maybe fourth manager since he signed.

Personally think he would be a great signing for us on what he showed but will depend if a) Oldham's new manager rates him and b) if he gets a better offer...we are very much bottom of the food chain in term of players options.

It wasn't that Murphy failed at us it was just the fact he hardly got a look in during our promotion push as we had 4 other strikers head of him. We only went in for him on loan because temporarily 2 of our strikers were injured but they soon recovered hence he hardly played for us.

On another note I see you signed Chris Arthur who is another ex player of ours. Good player many of whom were sad when we let him go. In his time with us showed glimpses of his quality but just wasn't consistent enough. I think League 2 came too soon for him before so maybe he is ready now!
