last season August to January was the most disappointing joyless experience I can remember. I certainly didn't look forward to going to games and left feeling bored and deflated. It picked up after Saunders joined but still a struggle.

The one thing the first four home games have began to feel like is last season.

1 goal in four home league games is a terrible.

Yates signed Barnard, Fenelon and Deacon . He has sent Fenelon out without a game . Barnard and Deacon at home haven't looked like scoring . Neither is a front man yet be expect them to win headers against players much bigger.

Why sign them if you wanted to play the style we do.

Must say I agree with that. According to the BBC we have had 1 shot on target in the last 2 home games.

MY needs to look at his tactics. He gave a Deacon a real volley after he had got his head to a long ball and took him off right afterwards - there wasn't another player within 25 yards when he flicked it on. 1-0 down so we take off a forward and bring on Bobson who has pace but is never a forward.

So much for entertaining football. We may have an average L2 budget but it looked like a bottom 3 performance, the type of stuff John Gregory teams used to produce.

Too much more of that and average gates of 2,200 won't be so realistic after all.

Harrold has quite bizarrely ( worryingly) become key. He's the only one who can play in the striker role with our tactics. maybe Barnard can play off him at home.

Away he will have to be on his own. We can't have a four man midfield away that include Walton Rooney and Smith.

Agree with the first part, not the second. His loan must be finished soon surely?

It is very similar to last season. You really do wonder where the next goal is coming from. All of our strikers seem rather impotent at the moment

I think Yates is a fairly decent manager. It's not his fault we are skint.
Whatever anyone thinks of him, he's probably the best we can afford.

How has he done at Whitehawk? If he is doing well, his confidence is likely to be up and it would be worth playing him IMHO.

Maybe Murphy will be available for this one? Has a decent scoring record at his level but this doesn't matter unless he gets the service.
