I know I should have asked this earlier BUT....

This Saturday, David (Dave) Boyce is my best man and as he played for Crawley in the late eighties/early nineties I was thinking that somebody here may be able to provide some career highlights or an anecdote that I can use in my thank you speech..?

Many thanks

He was a cousin of MC, although DB always denied knowing anything about this. Laughing

I remember when he came to Crawley in 1988-9 - I had only been watching Crawley a year or so.

He started like a train scoring almost every game (including both against his old club Dover). We were on a great cup run as well, alas David got injured before the 4th qualifying round against Merthyr and we lost the replay in front of a crowd not far short of what we get these days.

After that it all petered out a bit for us that season.

Thanks for the comments.

I've also framed up an 89/90 season programme where he's on the front cover.

Cheers!

You can mention the final game of the season away at Merthyr Tydfil. They had to beat us to be sure of winning the league, which they thankfully did as there was 3,000 Welshmen there ready to Kill us if we won. We did actually score first! So it was a bit of a Party in their Bar after and then quite a few beers on the 5 hour coach trip back. Then we went out in East Grinstead. Mr Boyce was very very much the worse for wear and his girlfriend at the time was mightily unimpressed. We, on the other hand, were p-----g ourselves at the grief he was getting. Boycey didn't come but we then had an 8.00a.m. flight to Ibiza for a week.

Gentlemen, apologies for making a second request but I now need material for MY speech at HIS wedding.

As well as reusing the above I am looking for further amusing football anecdotes that I can embarrass him with.

If you have anything you can share then please post.

Many thanks,

Looks like he never got to play with Wayne *beep*.....

36 goals that season though

We drew twice with Burton Albion that season. Wonder what ever happened to them ?
