Yes, they are down, but are they that bad?

In the Conference winning season, there wasn't a league crowd over 3000 until Cambridge in January (the match before Torquay in the cup) and prior to that the average league attendance was 1693.

Our first L2 home game against Macclesfield drew 2389, and playing Bradford near the start drew 2479 - and I'm sure they brought a fair few more that day.

Our first L1 game against Scunthorpe drew 3172, and last season against Coventry 3454 (our support was 2374 in that).

So it has dropped, and could/should be better, but it's not catastrophic yet.

A guide will be how much home support attends the Rochdale and Fleetwood matches and I suspect much will depend on how we do in our next 2 league games and to a lesser extent whether we're still in the CoCup and JPT.

I said on Saturday and I'll say it again, I think they are announcing attendances again, rather than tickets 'sold'. And I write sold as 'sold' because we all know there were 500 odd freebies dished out last year of which probably 50 were used at each game, artificially inflating our 'attendance' figures.

Any idea how many STs we have sold Ian?

I know what you are saying, last year all STHs were counted as present regardless of whether they were there.

There are a lot more empty seats at our end of the West Stand this season.

There were certainly fewer people in the west and east stand than usual looking in from the terrace. Standing seemed around normal.

I still say it comes down to entertainment in terms of the 500 700 floating fans. They want to see us attacking and scoring goals and we are doing neither the opposition have had 41 shots on target in the last two games we as the home team have had 9! No goals have been scored in open play.

Under Evans and Barker we looked like we were trying to play football under Gregory this year I have no clue what we are doing other than kicking the ball up field.

The stupidity is if we are going to play this " style" of olay we would have signed some physical players in the middle of the park but we sign a team of relative light waits and expect them to cope with a long ball physical game . It looks a mess.

My fear is regardless of what crowds have turned up as people come along to their first game and see what's being served up they certainly won't rush back.

No, they've not announced it, though they did say early birds were on a par with last season.

The days of bumping into Steve Duly in the car park before the match and chucking the question into conversation are long gone Crying or Very sad

You keep coming back, and you think we're *beep*. Other people will come back too.
P4 W3 L1. Not too bad is it? The midfield needs strengthening asap, but you make it sound like we're the worst team ever. Have a bit of belief. And if you can't manage that, try not to post the same doom and gloom rant on here every 5 minutes.

I'd question that myself. The last figure I was "told" was south of 1000.

I read it as this seasons EB's were on a par with last seasons EB's.

Maybe most people bought EB's this year.

Maybe - take off the 500 freebies and the comments above sound about right.

Saturday around us in East Stand seemed very thin, but looked more on Tuesday, and looked more in West Stand as well on Tuesday?! Confused
But then I guess Swindon had brought alot more to counter ours?

think few floaters will question (and non floaters too) paying tenner for johnstoneb paint tin pot trophy after what was served up the other evening. Not to gloss ove rthe fact but its not like we are serving up a dulx version of football at the moment. Splash a bit of glammer with the now faded pre-match entertainment wont help either its on the pitch during the game we need to do it. Think we will do well to exceed 1000 and if we get 1500 consider it a good attendanec in circumstances.

It's early in the season to be judging the crowd size. Many people will be on holiday and it's not until Autumn that many fans think about attending when the other summer attractions start to fade.

However, the football that the team is playing isn't going to help. The team is set up with defense in mind and it hasn't been the greatest football to watch so far. Hopefully the team will gel and things will improve.
