The article may as well say Joe Walsh is for sale. It's a scenario we seen play out a number of times, it's The clubs way of telling anyone interested Walsh is for sale make us an offer.

It's so predictable....we have even signed his replacement already, he has even told the world how much they have to offer. It's as subtle as a brick through a window.

Yes but why bring it up now. Either they are panicking that no one has come in for him, having previously turned down 400k allegedly I.e trying to drum up interest or they have agreed a sale and are just warming the fans up.

Two points . Why does John Gregory feel the need to bring up offers for Walsh at this point particularly a bid that was made 7 months ago.

Quite simple. He needs to raise money to sign a couple of midfielders to make us competitive. We have Simpson and Smith as the only two midfielders with any league experience. They are both solid pros but average league one players at best. The reality is with midfield we have now we will be relegated it isn't physically strong enough not does it have the quality / experience to compete over a season.

Henderson and Edwards will be worth the squad places but if you get 15 or 20 decent games out of them you will be doing well. They will improve but they aren't front line 40 game a year blokes yet.

Young Emmet and Bawling are squad fillers or very long shot gambles. One in a squad of 20 maybe but three players of this ilk is a problem

I completely agree with Crawley69 here.
Joe will be gone within a week.

I didn't want to admit it but I think Crawley69 may be right here, although a week may be a bit soon. But who knows?

Just a thought - one to play Devil's Advocate amongst the impending doom, if you will - but what if... JG was being interviewed by the Crawley News and many, many questions were asked with an obvious one being "So, Joe Walsh is still here, eh? Does that surprise you, John?" To which JG has answered.

Could it just be as simple as that - or must we assume that JG was the instigator, calling up the press for some help to shift one of his best players just before the season starts? Question Idea

I hope this isn't true. Walsh/Leacock is a very good CB pairing, with Essam and Bradley as cover. Losing Walsh will weaken our defence considerably. Yes, there's plenty of time to bring in a replacement, but why do we want to offload our best players? The entire squad can't have been on astronomical wages last season, despite what some say on here, but JG seems hellbent on getting rid of everyone from last season.
Our midfield does need strengthening, a Bully-like holding midfielder, and experienced to boot, would be great. Also not sure we have any cover for the full backs. Hopefully some more signings to come soon.

On Saturday it looked as though we didnt have any cover in front of the full backs (well right side anyway). Any news on whether Tomlin is likely to make an appearance anytime soon, being a right sided player?

If we are offered the same type of fee as we got for Fadz I would take it.

We got him for nothing and will otherwise lose him for nothing (or the peanuts we would get from a tribunal) at the end of next season.
