I thought Andy Townsend (born Maidstone) was an excellent "Irishman". Didn't he qualify for them on the basis that he once had a coat of tarmac on his drive.

They also had Ray Houghton (Scottish) and John Aldridge (from Liverpool) as key parts of that team. The most laughable was Clinton Morrison who may once have owned a dog that had once been in a car that was purchased by someone who had holidayed in Ireland!
