According to the Argus this morning we are close to signing Leon Clarke on a season long loan from Wolves, IMHO would be a great signing, scored 40 goals in past 2 seasons. When we had him before he did not get a good run the team.

A year ago I would have been irritated at this news. Although he does have some goals in him, his workrate was lacking. But, things have changed. We are short of players and are having to be financially prudent. So, Leon Clarke is probably going to be a fairly decent signing now.

Get him firing and it'd be really great signing, he can clearly do it at this level.

Worryingly though we might see the other side of his character.

Saw him score in the "Battle of Bradford" which is the good side, but his actions in seemingly forcing his exit from Coventry for Wolves last season seemed "dubious", which makes this a strange one if true that he is already being sidelined by Wolves? Good goalscorer though!

I was excited about this news until I read this thread.

What exactly has he done wrong ?

Hence the reason I don't take any notice to all these transfer rumours until something is officially confirmed. Complete waste of time.

That's about as adamant a denial as you're likely to see!

So far we have been linked with Akinfenwa, Freddie Eastwood and Leon Clarke.
When we finally sign a striker i think that it is more likely to be a player who we have not heard of before.

We will see. It wound't be the first time that a manager has dismissed such a deal is in the pipeline.

Clarke did little in his first spell at Wolves and subsequent move to Sheffield Wednesday saw him score once in every five games. Since then he has had many loans to lower league clubs. Hit the highlights with Coventry only to fail again at Wolves.

Clarke is quite a lazy type of player and needs service. I hope we steer clear

It was all a big misunderstanding.
We are actually going to sign Elsie, the new tea lady. Unfortunately someone got the wrong end of the stick and thought we were going to sign LC.
