The pressures of a modern footballer eh!

Got to feel for them having to play a game they love twice a week for a couple of months.

It's not a problem if we stay clear of injuries, unfortunately playing twice a week gives players who pick up little knocks less time to recover. We could certainly do with a few more squad players and hope lady luck is with us in regard to keeping everyone fighting fit.

Paul Lambert doesnt seem to want his players to play matches at all apart from coining in the money for coming nowhere in the PL, what an ambition!!! Evil or Very Mad

Blimey, as a kid I can remember Liverpool winning the League, League Cup and European Cup with only 17 players including 2 who only played 1 game!

On pitches that were a lot worse than today.

True enough - and the tackles were tackles back then...

...but that was also in the day of the pain-killing injection, no-one appreciated the long term damage regular shots of cortisone were doing... in fact there was a lot of ignorance about all aspects of training, diet, rest & lifestyle.... booze, birds & bookies were the priority.

Let's not forget we played 6 games in August, 7 in November and 5.83 in December. And we only had a 'quiet' September and October as we went out of the COC and JPT at the first hurdle.

Hmmm, you win today's cynic award. Maybe the worry is that the players may well pick up knocks and injuries, and we don't really have a big enough squad to cope.
