There's probably no one left inside the club that remembers! Laughing

Like Evans claim that we were playing Chelsea for the first time ever.

It was a great night... little old Crawley Town playing at the home of the mighty Gills... a few days later we lost at home in the FA Cup... you were definitely going mad at the end of that one Armchair Wink

Ah yes.Was that when I was offering my season ticket(terrace no.0002) over to Chris Giles?
I told him he and the rest of the poor lot were going to make the great FV unemployed.I wasn't wrong.

I can't think how I remembered that statistic, what with me being a "thuggish lout who is not even interested in the football".

It was indeed the start of the great schism Armchair... which is probably why I recall that noble defeat, on a cold wet night at the Preistfield, with such affection.

I remember that our no-nonsense non-league outlook meant the concept of watching a football match, while sitting down, was a very alien experience to us. On the night we never really managed to get the hang of it.

The mix-up over numbers is probably an honest mistake by the club as the competition has been restricted to football league clubs for a few years now.

I would imagine it was a random draw looking at the sides involved in the first round and those who were given a bye.

There are 48 teams in the competition. Round 1 has 32 teams involved, 16 have a bye. That means in round 2 it will be the 16 teams who won in round 1 and the 16 who had a bye. That is then divisible by 2 through to the final.
