The club is reporting by tweet that BJA has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent. More on the OS to follow.

Gutted although predictable. For all the jokes and all the poor finishing, Akinde always worked hard for us, always been good on the ball and hopefully he finds his level.

It's not before time. As much as he puts in 100% effort, as a striker you will always be judged on goals, and they are something he simply hasn't be able to provide the team with. No doubt he will find his level, but for now I think it's fair to say it's not L1 level. Good luck big John. Hope you turn it around again some day and make me eat my words.

Ben

Good luck to BJA turning down numerous loan deals didnt help the lad but i suppose he thought he was better than conference level

Barnet have let Collins John go so they need another non scoring forward Very Happy

BJA can do a very good job for someone. He's shown that he can score goals when he's playing at a lower level. And he's good nuisance value in L1 as well.

Thank god for that, now he can move on.
I hope he sees sense and drops down to the conference and starts rebuilding his career, (but I some how doubt if he will, if he had any sense he would have gone out on loan.)

Seeing the way SE billed him as this amazing wonder player, will he be off to Rotherham? Doubt it somehow.

Akinde seemed a nice guy, but nice guys who aren't scoring are of no use. His 4 goal record in 70 odd games is a woeful return. He may have worked hard but we never saw anything productive come from it. He was living off of his half a dozen goals in 11 for Wycombe (which is why I think Evans may have signed him).

I think his level is conference or conference south. But good luck to him.

John Akinde was in that group of players last season who we weren't quite sure could cut it in League Two... alongside the likes of Josh Simpson and... er... Hope Akpan...

..so don't give up on the dream big fella..! salut

He might have worked hard but he wasn't any good at his actual job (scoring goals) so not sure why you're so gutted? He was an expense on the wage bill that can much better be allocated (or part allocated) elsewhere.

Did he really score that many? I can remember 1 league goal against Shrewsbury, did he really score 3 other league goals? I obviously wasn't paying attention!

I'm wondering if those who went to Shrewsbury would be interested in the souvenir T-shirt...

"I was there when Big John Akinde scored!" Surprised
