I believe in giving youth a chance but this has got to be a wind up.
He hasn't even played a reserve game.

I am feeling suicidal Crying or Very sad

Crazy. We've just signed a young goalkeeper on loan to cover Paul Jones. Someone you've never seen play, and you're writing him off already.

Some of my dedicated Mackem mates speak quite highly of his ability, and I tend to take their views seriously as they don't own a flat cap and have never killed a kestrel........ Shocked

So lets be positive and think we now have 2 good keepers, and that the new one, being from the north east, will bring some well needed class to the area Wink (oh God, just remembered, Brodie ruins that argument)!

Looking at his stats, not too many others have seen him play either.

Very worrying.

It'll only be worrying if Jones gets taken out by one of their players at a corner, say, and can't continue. Then we'll see if this kid has anything about him. Hopefully we won't get to find out all the time he's here.

Agreed, Hamer was only about 18/19 at the time but we were not in League 1. However we just have to trust RB's judgement he must think the lad is ready to play in the league.
I still think he is an awful risk. He may well turn out to be great but his record, (he has started 6 U18 games and conceded 17 goals this season,) doesnt fill me with confidence. Admittedly they were all against other good premiership U18 teams. (Then again Jones may play every game, he has so far.)

Anyway I suspect he will have his debut at Newhaven so that may lay my fears.

Yes as long as our number 1 doesn't get injured, only the few that attend the SSC games will ever see him.

I'm flabbergasted this is the route we are taking though. How we can go from Kuipers with all his experience to a kid with experience of playing with other kids is astonishing. Ben Hamer at that age when we were in the conference had more experience.

RB's comment ' he has all the attributes to develop into a good goalkeeper' says he isn't good at the minute. He needs to get good quick or we are screwed if Jones gets injured.

He will only ever play in the league if Jones gets injured or sent off, to finish that match, we would then go out and get an emergency loan as first choice for the next match.
