Interesting considering the forecast of heavy snow tomorrow and Saturday morning. Carlisle will have travelled on Friday, if they can get out of Carlisle, so it could be very expensive for the club to call it off as late as 10.00 Saturday.

So very shortly after the light snow has started, the pitch is inspected.........

It sounds as though this might be a "called off just in case" rather than an actual unplayable pitch at 10am tomorrow? Crying or Very sad

The weather conditions for the Carlisle fans will decide whether the game is on or not, but basically you are correct.

I'll be on call with my shovel anyway Wink

exactly my thoughts as it could be playable then with a little clearance work but not nearer the time of kick off. Looks increasinly unlikely to go ahead as getting fans in/out ground teh car park etc would need to be safe as well as the picth, doubt be many if possibly any game on Saturday Sad

Just in case anyone is an anorak, these are the Football League recommendations concerning pitch inspections -

The army of volunteer shovellers may be better utilised clearing the snow off the M6, rather than the pitch as it is this that is more likely to get the game called off!

Would they not be better just posting warning to Carlisle fans not to travel if conditions are difficult? They can then make their own decisions? By the sounds of it we are not expecting huge snowfalls down here?

Agree it seem stupid to cancel for the sake of 100 travelling fans if the pitch is playable.

No it doesn't.

I would be livid if the game went ahead and we were unable to travel up there to watch due to weather.

Also Carlisle's away support would/will be well over 100.
