Embarassed Shocked Confused

Quote:
Crawley Town Football Club are disappointed to announce that today's match against Eastbourne Borough has been called off at 12noon today by match referee Nick Kinseley within minutes of him arriving at the ground.

This is due to a frozen area of the pitch adjacent to the main stand. Crawley Town Football Club are disappointed with this late decision but thank match referee Nick Kinseley for immediately contacting General Manager Barry Munn to inform him of the decision.

With the sun warming the pitch, air temprerature at 5 in the shade and climbing, and with 3 hours before kick-off, todays match referee arrived at Priory Lane and called the game off due to a frozen strip in front of the main stand and the River End.

Absolute joke , the sun has now thawed the pitch and its playable but the ref refused to stay and went within 5 minutes at 12 noon

Absolute joke! Wouldnt of been the same referee who called off our game against Kidderminster last season at noon and refused to hang around to see if the pitch would thaw!

Wonder if being a ref who lives under the thumb and the date it is today had any part to play in why he was eager to call the match off and get back home. Laughing

its crazy - Torquay and Waymuff are on the coast and they are on. Wrexham have had far worse weather and that's on.

Stupid. Looks like we will have to play 3 games a week at this rate.

There is no way the season will be extended - play offs and final are fixed dates - we will be playing Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays. The only help we might get is if the Setanta Shield is played after the season ends -but that would involve amendments to players contracts.

The FA will be ****** off if the Havant game is played today and Mondays gets called off.

Don't know the facts but it's a difficult one.

The decision looks a bit hasty but if it had been left to 2.15 and it was still unplayable we would have all been moaning. I do think refs are under pressure from the FA to make an early call.

Real problem on the fixture front though, we are already playing twice a week for the next month before Setanta Shield and Eastbourne are re-arranged. Also if we win against Havant then Salisbury next week would also bite the dust.

At least the forecast is a bit better into next week.

The only saving grace is many teams have played even less than us - Ketting have 7 games in hand on some clubs!

We actually got to the ground, five to two. Club stewards furious, and rightly so. Looking on the bright side, if this idiot ref is that officious three hours before the game, imagine what he'd have been like during it.

Just got back.

Frozen pitch my bottom.

Plenty of EB fans walking towards it when we were there at 14:30
