Really? He had a contract until the end of this season, with an option for next. Has it been said that's been taken up? |

Most (not all) of this squad are capable of better things if some steel is introduced - a player or two with attitude who can kick their butts out on the pitch when they start flagging - a league 2 version of Psycho Pearce. Come to think of it, he might be a half-decent manager for us if we were able to afford him (though his managerial record isn't as good as his playing one). |

we need a lot more than a player or 2 Paul
depending where you play Connolly RB or CB you need a LB and RB and a utility defender
a CM with some real steal and grit and at least 2 new forwards as we have nothing up top excluding Collins
Plus we need a at least 3 decent squad players as the current crop are either injury proan or simply not up to L2 level |

It's an unusual situation to have so many players retained for next season if not longer. Normally it might imply a degree of stability on which to build. Conversely it can be strongly argued that by retaining virtually all of the personnel that have performed so badly this season and brought the club close to relegation we are asking for trouble - especially if the manager is retained too.
I think there is decent potential within the squad (its the manager and the predictable, ineffective and inflexible style of play that I have most problems with), but it still needs considerable pruning and the injection of fresh blood.
It is ludicrous to have Smith here for another couple of years at least - he is just not good enough to take the club forward. The midfield needs completely re jigging. I think Yorworth has the potential to do well, its just finding how best to accommodate him within the team.
We should take the opportunity to get rid of Young, unless he is to play right
side of midfield and not as a full back. Reluctantly the time has come to let Harrold go. Nice guy but so injury prone. |

A question reigatered... whilst I understand that your major query is with ability of the manager, would it not also be too restrictive for any potential replacement to essentially inherit wholesale a squad of players that they have not chosen...?

Was this not what we saw as Drummy's initial problem? Inherited squad? |

Thought that was Yates problem and Drummy had a pretty free hand.I'm sure someone on here could tell me which players still had contracts when DD took over apart from Walton.

They will have to release quite a few to bring anyone in.
So:
Josh Payne – Release, makes to many critical mistakes
Matt Harrold - As Banj last year cant afford the risk
Jason Banton - Release
Jordan Roberts - Either him or Clifford
Billy Clifford - Either him or Roberts
Andre Blackman - No not good enough defensively
Addison Garnett - Release, We have cover
Arjan Tajbakhsh - Release
Chris Arthur – Release
Hopefully we can bring in 2 backs a defensive midfield and a BIG striker. |
