Good post but think replacements instead of additions.

re that side will win division....yesterday we rode our luck a bit but were in the game i think its fair to say deserved something from it ie at least a point and yet we were far from our best though we did compete better than against Exeter. What it goes to show again is what a poor std this division is this season and how really not finishing in a play off position at very least is a failure to capitalise on the weakness of the league. If Lincoln are an example of whats coming in next season then this season we will i suspect look back upon what not only mightve but shoulve been.

Er... Doesn't your point equally apply to EVERY team in this division...?

scratch

Particularly those who didn't start the season with rookie owners & manager and weren't one of the hot favourites to be relegated..!

Over the season we did, which is what I think he's alluding to.

I thought it was an improved performance compared with recent debacles. Everyone battled hard and it was a gritty point well one. Credit where it is due. At the end it was a draw that almost seemed like a win, and the crowd were generally well pleased.

However, same old problems were there for all to see - Collins isolated up front and lacking support, Boldewijn and Cox too wide, midfield unable to support in attack, persistent full back problems and a general rigidity of tactics with a seeming inability to try anything quite different to what has been on offer for much of the season.

Portsmouth really aren't firing on all systems so a win on Tuesday would not be totally out of the question. Why not play two up front - Collins and Murphy (we are at home after all), and re-jig the midfield, if necessary giving Enzio a rest. Also a little concerned at Cox's form. He seems to be lacking in confidence at the moment.

Interesting comment about the width, as too often this season we have lacked exactly that!

I'm happy for them to be wide, the major issue is the midfield not supporting the attack, or more generally support for Collins. It either has to be a second up front, or someone like Smiffy running into the box to get on the end of a cross.

It looks like Cox doesn't like playing wide, perhaps Blackman in that position? (He looks better going forward than defending.)

At the moment we appear to have too many square pegs for the round holes.

The previous posts raise a general point about our formation that has given me pause for thought... essentially I query if the formation we play in is too rigid & predictable..?

I ask the question because I wonder if we make it too easy for the opposition to counter us, by the lack of fluidity and variety in our style of play..?

dontknow

I have been saying exactly that for some time. We are predictable and tactically seem to be rather inflexible and a trifle dim. There does not appear to be a Plan B. That has to be down to the manager. The players will perform in the manner in which they are instructed by the coach. Is this one of the manager's weaknesses?
