Newport picked up 8 to 9 yellow cards in the first half; how would that work with a team needing a minimum of 8 players. I'm sure 4 would have been off at one point.

I completely agree. On the time question, I think it would be unfair for refs to have to "guesstimate" 10 minutes playing time as they have enough to look out for as it is, and would be a lose lose with the supporters from each side on his back ("that's 10 up" / "that wasn't 10"). I guess the 4th could have a stopwatch to check actual playing time, but bear in mind yellows are much more frequent in football than rugby. So given a Newport situation how many stopwatches would he need ?

Impractical. That won't stop the biggest stakeholder in the game (Sky) wanting it in for the entertainment factor though I Wink
