In answer to your question, Pat, "no".

Actually I note it is not a question, but a statement..... Wink

Surely the club are entitled to rip up his contract. You can't just bugger off and play for anther club half way through the season while the club paying you wages I has a fixture / injury crisis.

Luke Rooney must be the worst professional in the FL

It looks like breach of contract and the club could rip it up. I would prefer that they held on to it and demand compensation to be paid before releasing him. However i am not a lawyer.
Either way he will not be playing for Crawley again.

I wouldn't hold out for compensation; we would have to pay them to take him away.

So much for Yates turning him round.
Best for all, rip up his contract and let him walk away.
I would be surprised if he wasn't in breach of contract anyway, so in effect he doesn't have a contract any more.

Good news, that's helped the playing budget.

Crawley Observer are reporting that he has actually turned out for Arizona United in cup match?

This is all very strange.

I am not clear on how "official" this game or tournament is, but surely he is either properly registered to do this or he isn't.

If he isn't then surely he, or his US team, have to face some sort of sanction?

He played on saturday night for Arizona United against Swope park rangers. Played only first half in 0-0 draw in the Desert Diamond cup. (Match report on internet).
This must be breach of contract.

From the photo's i've seen on this match report, it looks like it could've been played on the 3G at Broadfield. Talk of compensation is ridiculous. Let him go. He brings absolutely nothing to the team and hes not even any use as a body when we are light on players. The game so often passes him by.

Dose anyone know if he has made an appearance back at the Broadfield yet or is he still missing. if he wants to go and play for a team that's watched by one man and his dog let him go. When he's played for us he blows hot and cold and wont be a big miss. Saving on his wages might enable us to sign a more reliable player who gives the club 100% effort an loyalty.

Would he have needed "International Clearance?"

He'd need a work permit, not sure what the football International Clearance rules are? but the MLS operate a quota system limiting overseas players to roughly 8 per squad, which is designed to give preference to the development of US & Canadian nationals.
