Leacock defiantly has some class about him some very good passes from the back.
Upfront if we could sign Collis John you have to say him and McLeod on form should be capable of getting goals.
Henderson was a bit mixed some real classy stuff and some wayward passes. Not sure he is a ball winner mind but I am sure there is more to come.Simpson was outstanding tonight.
The small wide men worry me Edwards and Young struggled to stay on the ball and to be fair Ince and the beast they had playing no 10 dominated midfield. We obviously won't be playing those type of players every week.
If we can sign Collis John and get him fully fit plus a aggressive ball winning midfielder, we could be about there.
Overall good solid effort by the team. |
JG has already confirmed we would only be signing 3 more players, 2 youngsters and an experienced player, the 2 youngsters are O'Connor and Bawling and the experienced player is likely to be Collins John, after that we will be going with what we already have. |

Oh Well. |
Are you suggesting they didn't like it up 'em? |

Leacock looked good in defence.
Simpson was the standout performer in the centre of midfield, Henderson didn't have as much impact.
Gwion showed promise on the wing.
Couldn't recognise half of the team, but I thought the team played well and we are shaping up ok. Don't know what all that panic was about pre season, I think we'll do ok. |

Panic is justified I guess when you lose 90% of your playing staff. Now we have a new squad everyone (apart from Crawley 69) has calmed down. Hindsight eh? And I think we'll do ok too. |

Oyebanjo was the stand out player of the evening for me. Great pace, can cross the ball and showed good anticipation and resilience in defence.
Leacock looks a leader and Bradley was better than I had been led to believe. If we do lose Walsh (and I hope we don't) the defence along with Jensen looks to be in safe hands.
Young, although he is a good prospect, seemed a bit too lightweight and get knocked off the ball too easily. I liked Henderson, a great corner for our goal and Simpson is pure class. Edwards has obvious speed and is a threat. Didn't see a lot of Smith but if he is a Bulman type of player, the midfield will be promising.
Collins John may lack a bit of fitness but he showed what a strength he is in the air (Barnett and McAllisteresque) and would along with Mcleod pose a threat to most League 1 defences.
Out of the subs, Bawling and Tomlin seemed quick and worked the ball well. I didn't notice O'Connor after he came on and as for Spiegal, well it was a disasterous start for him wasn't it? (Very Scott Ward).
All round we appear to have a bit more pace than last season. It's early days but I am hopeful with regards to next season.
With regards to the pitch it looks fabulous and there were no signs of it cutting up. |
