Not a classic by any means but great to secure league 1 football. Worse case is 5years of league football just over 10 years ago we were getting promoted to the conference!

Tranmere could be in trouble.

Tubbs is a legend
Back 4 got another clean sheet.
Edwards is very fast.
Proctor worked hard.
Gregory did well to make the change when he did we were loosing the game in the middle second half.

Nicely in the top half of the table, a weeks a long time in football. Kyle and Joe getting very dependable. Infact, I'd give MOTM to Joe Walsh who goes about his business in a very dependable manner. Solid performance in most areas of the park. Pleasing cameo from Sergio who had super glue on his boots last 10 mins - he helped regain the midfield when he came on. Tranmere should have got a point so makes a change for us, after recent matches, to get something more than we probably deserved.

Lovely free kick from Tubbs for the first and the rest of the half we were the better team but they had the best two chances. Second half they changed it around and they dominated. Our tactic seemed to be for Jones to kick the ball long so there 5 could head it out. JG changed it by bringing on Torres for Tubbs (who has been injured) but we still struggled. The Torres won the ball passed it inside and Gwion was suddenly through on goal and slotted it under the keeper.

It knocked the stuffing out of Tranmere and we had other chances including Proctor who forced the keeper into a good fingertip save onto the post. 3-0 would have flattered us...actually 2-0 flattered us.

Pretty much agree with Jims analysis.

Tranmere seemed to be "dead man walking". Headers at goal were more "cushioned back" for Jones to collect and although there was no lack of effort, they never looked like creating a shock. Edwards goal typified that as their midfielder tried to intercept, but only deflected it into Edwards path and he finished well.

Not absolutely safe yet but with many of the bottom teams playing each other in the next few weeks, we are 99% certain to stay up....... (I hope ! Confused )

Not the best of performances but at this stage of the season the result was more important than how we played. Should be safe now and hopefully the players can relax for the last few games and JG can try a few different formations perhaps with wingers. Thought Proctor ran his socks off and had a great shot near the end that the goalie did well to push on to the post.
And was a great free kick from Matt Tubbs,

Workmanlike rather than a classic performance but we got the job done.

Jamie Proctor worked his nuts off up front and we took the chances when they came. It's a sign of a good forward to take your only chance when half fit and Matty did the job once again.

Paul Jones also made the key saves when needed and in the end it was quite comfortable.

Edwards had pace to burn when he came on and left us all wondering why he had been kicking his heels on the bench for so long.

Andy Drury did his bit again and in my books will always be a first pick.

A few players out there needed to raise their game a bit. Josh Simpson for me never got into the game and I don't really understand why he is captain. When Dicker came on he really got stick in and the second was a result of real persistence by him.

Now the pressure is off let's hope we see Edwards from the start on Friday.

Quality free kick from Tubbs. Beckham himself would have been proud of that one. We probably shaded the first half though Tranmere's chances looked more dangerous than ours. They always looked a threat in the air and we didn't get a lot out of them with the high stuff.
We started getting overrun in midfield in the second half and JG sacrificing an attacker to bolster things up seemed to stem the tide for a while. The second goal came about because Tranmere were starting to leave themselves light at the back as they went for broke.
I think Tranmere could count themselves a bit unfortunate not to get a share of the points but that's how it goes sometimes. I do think they will stay up.
Paul Jones should be pleased with his game. He needed a game like that to restore some confodence after recent errors.

Just shaded the first half and a deserved lead.

When we got the free kick, I did say to those near me, Tubbs will score, top left corner as we look - and he did!! Wish I had that App on my phone.

2nd half, we were awful, and but for profligate finishing from Tranmere, and PJ playing well, could have been 1-1 or worse.

However, last 10 minutes we bossed the game, an Gwion Edwards looks a real find. Hope we can play him (and Monakana?) against Orient - not sure they'd cope.

Thought most of the team looked dead on their feet tonight and were trying to conserve energy for the leyton orient game which will be a tough tough battle as they will be desperate to win..

The back four were excellent and are at last working well as a unit....

Afraid Matt Tubbs produced one piece of magic but not a lot else..not sure he is our long term striker solution..

Richie Barker was in directors box tonight..Wonder who he was scouting..??

Great win, 3 poilnts is what matters, i'm not one of the nay sayers, but, if we play like that against Orient, we will get stuffed i'm afraid. We just keep giving thge ball away, as mentioned above, If Jones (P) wasn't having a good game we would have lost this. Great free kick though. Had to do a double take on Barker, never seen him in civvies before.

Come on Ian, you know you can't say Proctor had a good game on here. Wink

Besides as (according to the BBC) we only had 2 shots on target, the keeper must have pulled the ball back towards the post. Cool
