Entertaining game - really good start to the season.

Three points is always nice.

Superb first half and we could have been out of sight.

Nothing tactically wrong second half, we were just on autopilot and thought the game was won - Cov deserved their fightback.

But we deserved the win - sublime winner.

And was the pitch invasion caused by get in your box new seating plans Wink
I personally think we should have sacrificed a forward for Drury earlier than we did but hey ho we won, so not complaining. NB Sacrifice not in the fatal sense

You really are a numpty aren't you! There were no strikers on the bench and there were some complaining that Barker had taken a striker off to accommodate Drury. People like you are complaining that he didn't tske one off. Those saying "Change it Barker" seem to lack any idea of exactly how he should do so! Perhaps Coventry got back in the match because they improved, or didn't that occur to you?

One reason Coventry might have improved in the second hand is the spur of kicking towards noisy support. Our players didn't really have that incentive.

Yeah, that's a good point. And in a way the HT teamtalk is easier when you're 2-0 down than when you're 2-0 up I'd have thought.

2-0 down, you give them the rollocking and tell them they need to get out there and play their hearts out.

2-0 up and you're giving it all the "same levels of concentration", "don't think the game is won" blah blah blah which is definitely going to have less impact than a rollocking.

Maybe RB should have gone postal at the players for not being 4-0 up at half time. Very Happy

Exciting game yesterday and many players starting the season very well for us. Mike jones playing quite possibly his best game for crawley as a solid midfield player just unfortunate that in playing that formation it didn't take them long in the 2nd half to work out to attack us down the wings!!
First half we attacked quickly and there defence was a shambles. Second half they responded after (im assuming) the rollicking they got from there manager. They played well in the second half and deserved there goals.

However, I said this all last season and in the first game I can see that nothing has changed. You never want to see a knee-jerk reaction but from the start of the 2nd half they were at us. Personally I wanted to see barker give it 15minutes and then make a sub. Alexander played well but from 60minutes on he wasn't getting to the balls that he was in the first half. Logic would make you think bring him off and bring drury on . But Barker stands there and watches and does nothing until its nearly too late. The tactics are normally right but the timing and personal changes are often wrong.
Why take off proctor and keep a tiring alexander on?? Just from todays game you can see that alexander can do a good job for us but he isn't a 90minute player anymore! There is nothing wrong with shoring up the defence and trying to hit on the break at home or away!!

All in all good start as we got the 3 points and as the season only imagine certain players will get better aswell. We do have a decent starting 11 and a couple of quality subs who could play in the first 11 we just miss them 2/3 players to fill the bench and help out when needed.

Amongst the many many positives yesterday, the main concern was the exposure of the full backs. This league is full of quick, attacking midfields so we are going to have to handle this tactically. Sadler looked rich picking yesterday. When under the cosh I think we need the option of sitting 2 danny bulman types in front of the back four - one covering the left and the other the right. While it would be great to get in a striker to score goals, we need another defensive midfield option to stop goals going in - the latters a cheaper option than the former!

Mike Jones took his goal very well. Looks even better on highlights. Proctor shocked me with the classy opener.

Another might have been hearing our MC (not the previously fat MC that we know) gloating at Half Time about being top of the league and going up!

I said exactly that at the time, not an intelligent thing to do when half the Coventry squad / management were out on the pitch. Please take the microphone away from him and give it to a 5 year old child, I'm sure they will do a lot better.

Two other points, please don't let that cringeworthy idiot near the PA again. We know the score, we're at at the game! Don't gloat we're `top of the league` -
the local equivalent of doing a dump in the dressing room.

Glad someone agrees, the atmosphere was tense, and you could see that it was going to kick off at some point, so what do we do, have some pleb on the microphone, ramming the half time score, and the totally useless fact that Crawley were top of the league at half time, down the throats of the Coventry fans. 'Championship here we come' was another of his classic lines.
