You mean it hasn't got stuck on a sandbank for a change! Laughing

Good result tonight & no doubt a useful 90 mins for the likes of Bulman, Hunt & Torres etc.

Crawley face Hastings in the next round. They beat Peacehaven 2-1 after extra-time tonight.

Brilliant night out tonight, great banter from all Crawley fans, and good to see Jonte scoring. Roll on Hastings!

Well said Dan. CTFC is in the full grip of Sussex Senior Cup action and both evenings have been a rip roaring success. Really good numbers at Newhaven this evening who I am sure would have enjoyed a bril evening away from the presures of league points.

League One is the most important issue at this time BUT there is a lot to be said in joining the Sussex Cup vibe on route to Hastings !

Good luck to all connections on Monday evening !!!!!

No idea, the club have only seen fit to give one ferry update which just isn't good enough IMO!

But remember Ian how many times we have lost to teams in similar positions before. 1-0 is a good result considering the banana skin it could have been.

Was standing down the side second half and after about 20 minutes had a double take as I was sure that large building hadnt been there when I arrived, then I saw it was moving slightly and had a funnel with a big T on it - in my defence it was cold, but still not as cold as Canvey Island! Confused

We were by the dug out and listening to Taff and CB giving out instructions in quite broad accents, not sure that Lateef and some of the others that side understood all of it? Very Happy

Not many of our team last night actually play in League One though?

6 of the team that played last night have played in League 2 or higher. I would have thought their experience would have been enough to get a 'better' result. Although winning 1-0 or 5-0 sees the same end result, progression to the next round.

It's almost comparable to our result in the FA Cup against Met Police, and many weren't that impressed by that.

For goodness sake, what do people want? Yes, we could have put out a much stronger team and won it 10-0. But, apart from the fact I thought it was expected that League teams field 'reserve' players, it was a cold night and the pitch was not particularly good, with several players slipping when turning. In addition, the Newhaven players didn't hold back in some of their challenges. What would people be saying if a couple of our main players picked up an injury? They would be asking why on earth RB risked them in a 'nothing' match.

As for the game itself, we did OK. It was pretty much one way traffic with Newhaven sitting 10 men behind the ball, paticularly in the second half, which was odd seeing as they needed a goal. Instead, they relied on the odd break-away to try to get a goal back. Dannie Bulman controlled midfield, playing simple effective passes and for me was our best player.

Nobody else particularly shone; Jonte Smith did fairly well and took his goal well and could have had another couple if he hadn't been off-side.

All in all, a reasonable win on a cold night on a difficult pitch. On to the next round.

The only real danger from Newhaven going forward I thought was the no.7, lightning fast, much quicker than anything else on either side and had a good effort well saved by Maddison right at the end. But the pitch was a pudding, completely dead and difficult to pass the ball around quickly and accurately on, but both sides had a go!
I thought some of our youngsters looked quite promising, but will need to bulk up a bit, even Jonte needs some of the Hope Akpan summer bodybuilding programme to help him cope better with physicality in the league? Danny B definitely MOM as he probably should be!
