We will have the reaction of ref Simon Hooper and manager Richie Barker on the website shortly reacting to tonight's postponement.

I can't wait to hear the ref justify this!

Probably wanted to save the pitch for Swindon and the TV money. Is the ref on commission?

We would have done it at 9am surely if that was our 'intention'.

Cant you take the ref to a small claims court?
Actually, your drive and cost of fuel these days guess its above the small claim cut off! Evil or Very Mad

Feel for you!

We will never know how bad the pitch was, however there is a serious communication issue here.

According to Preston there were pitch inspections at 9.00 and 12.00. Why didn't the club make this known? If so people may have double checked before setting out. As it was I don't recall any indication on the club website that there were inspections taking place let alone the game being in doubt.

Also how come if the pitch was fit at lunchtime yet we suddenly find out at 6.45 the game is off? Has it rained that much today?

I'm afraid in this area we really are a non league club playing in L1, just as Steve Coppell said before the reading game.

That's what I've said! Shocking! It must be the ref!

Given there is rain everyday this week including heavy rain Friday you have to wonder if Sat game will be playable. Think part of the problem is we are at the bottom of a hill and all the water from Peas pot come down .

Shameful that the Bridges pitch is playable and our League 1 pitch is not.

Disgusting also that the game was not called off at 12:00 if there was ANY doubt the game would not be on. These away fans were not bloody traveling from down the road but 5 bloody hours away.

Why would they have lost money?

is it not obvious or are you trying to be pedantic?

Surely the coach travel will be insured for cancellations such as this, so the fans will get a refund?

!!!!!!!!!
I thought any heavier rain wasn't forecast until much later? It certainly wasn't hard enough when we were up there!
If it was playable then if for nothing else, for the travelling fans at least get it going?
And whatever Ian says get some bloody waterproof covers on that pitch for Saturday!!!

I do struggle with that comment " it's playable now " but perhaps not in three hours ....surely you can't know that ....if playable you should start the game .

He also felt it wouldn't be a good game.

Refs always say if you start you have to be confident it will finish. Look back at the Cheltenham game last season, in fairness that should have been abandoned, but the ref said if I start it, it will finish. It's a very fine line.

I had a fantastic drive to Billingshurst, my son will be pleased he was missing this one for cricket practice.

Every cloud.
