I can't see this happening. I presume they feel he has potential and could be one for the future but as a 4th or possibly 5th choice and no reserve games he might not get any games hence if you signed him you would probably have to ship him out on loans to gain experience.
Sorry I just cant see any logic in signing him.

If Fadz stays we could sign a young CH but if he goes we need at least one, possibly 2 experienced CH's Confused

I see Gillingham have signed Cody McDonald. Kind of player I would have liked us to have gone after but I guess money talks....

Hi guys I'm a lurking Gills fan.

You could have a very very good signing in Connor.

He broke into the first team last year and did a superb job. He is tall, mobile, brave and confortable on the ball. He also comes over as a really nice lad.

He deserved the contract he got last season, but it has worked againt him, as with senior defenders signed during the season, his wage must look big for someone not getting in the squad.

He is only 20, which is still very young for a central defender, and i'm sure he can continue to improve.

I think it's appalling a 20-year old in any walk of life earns £47,000 a year, if the figures are true, of course, He better HAD be good.

So we have four centre backs again, but three of them are 20 years old, and the one who isnít looks to be on his way soon. Iím sure Connor will be a good signing, and Iím all for buying youngsters and improving them, but centre back is one position where I think a certain amount of experience is necessary.

Kids need to learn about the value of money, assuming he's like any other kid and hasn't. If he drives, I bet he has a flash, powerful car, of which he's not really in control.

Somebody tell me he has a mortgage or pays for his grandparents' care bills - THEN I might be more forgiving. With money comes responsibility. He can't be blamed for being 20, but these supposedly hard-up clubs throwing money at kids sends out the wrong message. If he's good enough, the money will come later.

In fairness to Essam, it's not him I blame, it's Gillingham and lower league clubs in general.

Welcome Connor and I hope it goes well!

One problem I can see though with a fairly big input of players several of whom are inexperienced is it might take some time to get everybody bedded in which may mean goodbye to our outside hopes of the play offs? This level of change would be great with some pre season games to play them all, sort out formations etc. but we have to hit the ground running next Tuesday and get a win otherwise interest may start to fade.

What's wrong with him being on, say, £15-20,000 like many 20-year-olds?

Just seen his picture on Google; he looks a lot older than 20.

that works out at less than £1000 a week..... this is football. It's not even like you're talking about a 17yr old, he is 20 and an adult? Rather bizarre comment to say the least. i would be delighted if that was all he is on here.

Don't know where you get this rubbush from. He has standard car, and is in no way flash. He still lives at home with his mum and dad as he is a local kid who has been with the Gills since u11 age group.
