No mention of Claude and Fadz rowing before the second goal causing Claude to take his eye off the ball and totally miss it !

Played Coventry off the park in footballing terms, but that alone doesn't win matches. We were like Barcelona in midfield at times and like Leigh rmi upfront though some of the defensive lapses were of an equally low standard. A match where all our strengths and weaknesses were as clear as the Ricoh lights. I heard some moaning about mike jones *beep*, easily his best match and contender for MOTM IMO.

Please Please tell me this is a wind up post?

Yeh. I was only joking about our forward line being like Leigh RMI. Sorry about that

Just got back, frustrating night really.

We were the better side, yet we lost 3-1. Worrying. Again a few points.

- Hunty and Claude were very poor.
- Bulman played well i dont know why he was subbed?!
- What the hell does RB see in M.Jones? once again very poor.
- We are seriously struggling upfront.

Yeah that was rather embarrassing, Davis doesn't look like he responds well to criticism. Very unprofessional on his part after a poor mistake!

On the OS Barker says (in part) --

Quote:
"When we got it back to 2-1 you could sense the crowd getting restless and if we'd equalised we might have gone on and even won the game. In terms of performance it was better than some of those in away games we have won this season and I'm sure the fans who travelled, who gave us great backing again, would agree."

I would agree with him, Doncaster e.g. (not sure about Carlisle and Hartlepool as I wasn't there)

BBC Stats (can be misleading - I know) show us as on top in the game.

From my point of view we played good passing football at times, and aimless lumps in the air up to GA/BC as well. (Why do we persist with that, it isn't working) First half, 2 good saves at least from their keeper kept it at 1-0. I agree re Bulman/Simpson being our best players,
but I also felt Jones had a reasonable game. A couple of misplaced passes and muscled off the ball easily sometimes, but a reasonable game.

Akinde managed more than GA in the 10 minutes he was on.

Defensive lapses cost us, not as bad as Tranmere but not good.

I don't think we were as bad as some suggest earlier, and I would more or less agree with Guildford Roader. (well, the sentiment if not the slightly OTT descriptiom)

Looking forward to Notts County and feel we'll give a good account of ourselves.

PS - no-one else has mentioned it but I thought the lady lino had a good game. (not the ref though - one OTT challenge especially on Hunt went unpunished)

I listened to the Coventry commentary, (kept losing the Crawley feed).
All I can say is even the Coventry commentators said we outplayed them.
Only Crawley mistake they talked about was Claude giving away an unnecessary corner that led to their second goal.

They spent a lot of time discussing Crawley spending beyond their means.
(No change there Confused )

You're kidding? We have Swindon, Bournemouth and Portsmouth in our division and they are talking about Crawley spending beyond their means? Jeez. Rolling Eyes

Didn't see the game so can't comment there - but was pleased to read we had 228 there, good effort for a mid week trip.

Hope the performance was a blip and not something to be repeated Sat in another very tough match

I see criticism on here of Hunt, but those around us thought he did pretty well, didnt lump it forward at every opportunity (unlike our two centre backs), several good passes to a Crawley player and not taken apart in his defending so what was so bad?
Jones also, and I was one of his stronger critics, makes himself available trying to make things happen and worked hard and far from the worst on the night.
Josh worked hard but (IMO) wasnt at his best, Nick Adams crossing and final ball was awful and one of the reasons Alexander never got a look in because the corners, crosses were so poor.
Danny Bulman was our best player, involved in all our good passing and was stunned when he was taken off!!
We did play the prettier football at times and tried to pass it (except when our two CBs got it, except when they should have lumped it when under pressure!) but poor final ball and little cutting edge allied to a fragile central defence killed us.
