Well done to the team and their coaching staff.

Also well done to the fans who braved the cold evening.

Richie Barker wants Fortress Broadfield, looks like it's being built !

Scott Mellvilles second goal (and the winner) was a cracker! He hassled their defender, won the ball and set off down the right wing (heading north). The shot from just outside the box but near the touch line was vicious and dipping and the Daggers keeper couldn't stop it going over his head to hit the far post and go in.

There were questions if it was a cross gone wrong a la Adams but there was nobody in the box to cross to and I think he looked up and gave it a go.

He needs work on the celebrations though. A cowboy riding a horse while twirling a lassoo? His team mates knew what it was about though.

The front three of Melville, Rowe and adekunle looked a threat all night, ablely supported by Alex Laing from the middle. Also thought the captain Alex Malins did well, especially as he was up against a giant of a centre forward all night.

Good game, well worth the entrance fee and a good result too.

We will find out our opponents this evening as Bury Town face Histon. The draw for round 3 takes place on Friday and includes Premier League & Championship sides.

It really was an excellent result last night for the team. They are in the same youth league as Dagenham & Redbridge, but while Crawley sit 2nd bottom with just 1 win all season, Daggenham are riding high in 3rd. That said while I thought Dagenham generally looked the better side we did play well on the night.

Melville took his 2nd goal superbly and defensively Malins was excellent. I also thought Laing looked creative in the midfield before going off injured.

Should they get past Bury Town or Histon it will be a nice reward if they can get a Premier League side away from home and have the opportunity to play in one of the big stadiums
