What happened to Craig Short?! Shocked
These rejections if true must affect the next one down the line, but it also emphasises what a crap time it is to find any sort of decent manager, and how we were dumped in it by "Mr Integrity".

It was always likely to be very tough finding a new manager at this time, particuarly if they are already in a role.

This is why Dyche and Southgate are still the most likely candidates to me.

Has Short turned us down then? He wasnt in a front line role so the above wouldnt have affected him so much?

With regard to the manager's position I suggest people at the club start using Lynx. Laughing

Stupid question, I know. Why don't we just advertise the job? Interview the applicants and select the best one. It's got to be better than approaching people in safe jobs or living miles away and then getting rejected.

Exactly. Is what we should have done in the first place.

Strange methods by, at times, a strange club.

Question for Steve coppell. Steve, why don't you appoint Craig Brewster AND commit yourself to Crawley for at least a season? Its a good management team and if last Saturday's performance is anything to go by, effective as well

Is the fact that they will work under a Director of Football, a reason we are being rejected?

Although he says he doesn't want the job, I reckon Craig Brewster would be fine. The way it's been worded, it sounds to me as if he's saying he doesn't want the job permanently because he doesn't think he will be offered it or he thinks it might be taken away from him in the future. The problem being that if he ends up being sacked as manager, it would probably end his relationship with Crawley Town - something that he may not want. It's difficult being sacked as manager and reverting to a previous role - whatever that is.

Not that I am aware of, so he is possiblem - but Southgate it a Crawley lad who I believe would have played under Coppell so may already have a working relationship (sure a few Eagles around that will correct me if wrong)

Dyche was at Watford in a managers role, and is therefore local enough to commute too.

As Short isnt in a front line role, and has limited experience in such a role, I would put him below these two in my betting odds

Manchester Evening News...

Meanwhile Latics boss and City legend Paul Dickov has rejected an approach for his services from League One rivals Crawley Town.

It is understood that the Sussex club, currently on the lookout for a new boss after Sean O'Driscoll left for Nottingham Forest, made an approach but the 39-year-old turned them down.

[Oldham chairman Simon] Corney said: "Paul is highly regarded in the game and an approach was made but he wanted to continue the good work he was doing here."
